Should I use my main Bluesky password?

No. Use an app password. It works only for apps, and you can revoke it in Bluesky at any time without changing your main password.

Why does Bluesky use a form instead of a sign-in page?

Bluesky connects third-party apps with a handle and an app password, so Voxpanda shows a small form under Connect Bluesky instead of opening a sign-in page.

Does Voxpanda comment on other people's Bluesky posts automatically?

No. Bluesky's bot guidance asks bots to interact only when tagged, so Voxpanda replies automatically only when your brand is tagged.

Connect Bluesky to Voxpanda with an app password

You connect Bluesky to Voxpanda with your Bluesky handle and an app password, not your main password. Bluesky uses app passwords for third-party apps. The AI social media manager stores the app password encrypted, as described on the Security page, and uses it only to post and reply for your brand. Only workspace owners and admins can connect a channel.

Create an app password in Bluesky

Open Bluesky and go to Settings > Privacy and security > App passwords.
Add a new app password and give it a name, for example “Voxpanda”.
Copy the password. It has the format xxxx-xxxx-xxxx-xxxx.

Connect it in Voxpanda

Open Brands and select your brand.
In Channels, find Connect Bluesky.
Enter your handle, for example handle.bsky.social.
Paste the app password.
Select Connect. The message Bluesky connected confirms it.

What Voxpanda does on Bluesky

Publishes posts of up to 300 characters (counted as graphemes). The post scheduler handles timing.
Replies automatically when your brand is tagged. Answers come from your brand’s sources. Questions the AI cannot answer go to your WhatsApp.
Asks before commenting on other posts. Each comment on someone else’s post needs your approval.

Limits to know

Bluesky limits each account to 5,000 points per hour and 35,000 per day, and creating a post costs 3 points (checked 13 October 2026). The full table is in the Bluesky and other platform rate limits article.

Fix a broken connection

If you revoke the app password in Bluesky, Voxpanda can no longer post. Create a new app password, select Disconnect next to the Bluesky channel, and connect again with the new password.
